Wendy Humphreys Tebbutt, ARMCM
Educational & Specialized Kinesiology Instructor / Practitioner

Wendy's original careers were as a harpist (Vancouver Symphony & Opera Orchestras / Edmonton Symphony & Opera Orchestras) and as a solo classical singer working out of Toronto in opera, oratorio, operetta, chamber music and solo recitals.  It was while the duo 'Laughton & Humphreys' (trumpet & high soprano) was studying baroque performance practices in London, England that Wendy was introduced to Specialized Kinesiology. That changed the focus of Wendy's music performing / teaching career entirely.

While still performing in Toronto, Wendy began her studies in Educational and Specialized Kinesiology and worked mainly with her professional performing colleagues. As a result, Wendy was invited to teach Educational and Specialized Kinesiology as part of the "Advanced Studies in Performance" course for the graduate students in Music Performance, University of Toronto. Wendy continued to teach this program until her return to BC in 2000.

Wendy is one of the few practitioners who works with and teaches both "movement" based programs and Specialized Kinesiology  "muscle monitoring" based programs...most practitioners focus on one or the other. Wendy has trained with the originators of Brain Gym, Rhythmic Movement Training Int'l, LEAP Brain Integration, SIPS Kinesiology, 3-in-1 Concepts,  Integrated Healing, Kinergetics: RESET; with neuro-physiologist Carla Hannaford, PhD; and top trainers of Applied Physiology.  She has nearly 2500 hours of training and updates/expands her training annually.

Wendy is only the 2nd Rhythmic Movement Training Int'l Instructor in Canada - and the only one West of Sault Ste. Marie!  Wendy teaches from Coast to Coast to Coast.

Just as S/K changed the focus of her musical career, RMTi training changed the focus of Wendy's Specialized Kinesiology career as well as her own personal and professional development. Wendy is on a mission to bring Rhythmic Movement Training International (movement based program) and SIPS Kinesiology (S/K based program) to the world.  Wendy is willing to travel in order to accomplish this mission and offers free class tuition or sessions to those who sponsor classes and/or sessions away from the Sunshine Coast of BC.

Primitive & Postural (Childhood) Reflex Assessment / Development / Integration are now at the heart of Wendy's practice.  The beauty of the work is that it is easily incorporated into any type of Specialized Kinesiology session, either as the main structure of the session or providing pre- and post-checks within the structure of a session in SIPS Kinesiology or Applied Physiology or the LEAP Brain Integration Program.

While Wendy still loves to work with performers in all fields - instrumentalists, singers, dancers, and actor.  Wendy also delights in working with young children who are living with an active Fear Paralysis Reflex and seeing how quickly these children can blossom and begin interacting joyfully with the world around them. And, of course, the neuro-degenerative disorders are also of interest to Wendy because of their link to members of her family.

Wendy has a strong interest in working with...
* seniors with stroke, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Acquired Brain Injury;
* children and adults with ADHD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Dyslexia/Dyspraxia/Dysgraphia/Dyscalculia, and Down's Syndrome; as well as
* people dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Abuse.

As Wendy says, "This work [Educational & Specialized Kinesiology] makes the work you've done with your physiotherapist or psychologist blossom exponentially!  No two sessions are ever the same. I love my work and I feel blessed and privileged to share it with others."

A Brain Gym 101 student of Wendy's wrote:
"Wendy brought the Brain Gym course to life. She made each component strong with anecdotal experiences and stories. She made me feel comfortable in taking chances with my learning and has made me want to explore this subject further. She is vivacious, talented, a ball of fire, a strong woman with inner and outer beauty. She has the voice of an angel, and is obviously talented in more areas than most of us would find humanly possible. Thank you for your kindness and inspiration."
